Influence of Working Parents on the Development of Children Just several decades ago it was usual for an American family to have father working hard outside and supplying the family with the money and other resources, and mother used to stay with children, bring them up and guide in their daily activities. But escalating requirements of modern times resulted in the necessity of constant increasing of family income, and very often both father and mother are forced to work full day outside. In such cases parents can not properly care about their kids, because work takes a lot of efforts and time from them. Frequently little children have to stay alone at home, or be under supervision of another adult: a relative, a baby sitter, a neighbor, or a professional childcare specialist. And, in many situations it may not be good and advantageous for such a development of children, which can be satisfying ethical, moral of cultural expectations and imaginations of their parents. I know the consequences of such business preoccupation of both parents from the experience of my own family.


Before I was born, my parents worked as clerks in a huge publishing agency. After giving birth, my mother quitted her work and started being completely dedicated to little me. Then, when in two and half year my younger brother came to this world, of course, the needs of family began growing up. Mum tried to find some part-time job, or tried to do some works at home, but the good position she had left in their agency was a very big temptation, so soon she started working full-time again. As to taking care about us, parents decided to use help of somebody outside of the family. In the beginning, mum engaged one of her friends to look after us, but that woman was of Latin origin and could not even speak elegant English to teach us, as mother wanted. For a while mum tried to use services of childcare specialists, but he could not find any reliable one.
