Interview 1 Iren Manson Edu.AllSoft USA 8445 Central Avenue Newark, California 94560 Iren Manson works as a manager of Edu.AllSoft project. Edu.AllSoft is a project for those who like discounts. How many students purchase software programs? How many students like discounts? Iren Manson explains that Edu.AllSoft is a branch of AllSoft shop. It represents programs that have special versions for students, universities, non-commercial organizations, to mention a few. Iren says that functionally these software programs are equal to commercial sale-versions. However, discounts reach up to 90%. What is the aim of this project? Iren considers that it is interesting both for sphere of high education and students. Each software developer, for example, determines his own discount policy. For example, Microsoft programs foresee special discounts not only for universities but also for schools, theaters, museums and non-commercial organizations.


Therefore, Iren claims that her project will be interesting for everybody. What concerns private users, the project is based on discounts for student, teacher, aspirant, and professors. We spoke about the experience of mainly local software developers. What about special versions of software for educational sphere developed by foreign companies? Iren notices that such practice is quite rare for foreign software developers, but still many of foreign companies also foresee certain student discounts. Edu.AllSoft project attracts attention of foreign software developers and will be enriched by foreign programs as well. I asked Iren whether she is not afraid that people will start to pretend they are students to get discounts.


She answered that sellers shouldnt be afraid of such cases. She grinned that, on contrary, those people should be afraid to pretend they are students. When they violate the conditions of license agreement, they become the users of pirate software. She also added that Microsoft doesnt require any documents to confirm the buyers right for discount.
