Iran's Nuclear Program and U.S.'s Involvements and Interests The Irans nuclear program is considered to be a threat to U.S. national security by many American politicians and those people who share their concerns. It is no secret to everyone that Iran had adopted an aggressive attitude towards USA after the events of Islamic revolution in 1980. Even now, long after the death of Ayatollah Khomeini, many Iranians consider USA being Great Satan and this anti-American sentiment is very popular among large portion of Irans population. The reason for this is American continuous support of Israelis genocidal policies towards Palestinians. Iran is a one of the worlds greatest military powers, with its army ranking to be among seven largest armies in the world. The war between Iran and Iraq has proven Irans capability to defend its territory and even switching to offensive operations.


Only American support of Saddam Hussein at the time prevented his regime from being overthrown by Iranians. There is no doubt that the region of Persian Gulf and Middle East is among most politically unstable in the world. The world largest oil reserves along with explosive mentality of local population makes it really dangerous mix. India and Pakistan have now admitted of possessing nuclear weapons. Also CIA estimates Israel of having at least 200 of nuclear warheads, which is almost as many as Russians have, although officially it denies it. Basically, Israel is capable of wiping off any country in the region and it will if there is any danger posed to Israel fro abroad.


This state practices terrorism as state policy, so it appears highly unlikely that any moral considerations might play role when itll come to using nuclear weapon. Naturally, Israels neighbors feel threatened and they try to take precautionary measures. Iran is among them; still there is no proof that Iran has been developing any nuclear weapons on its territory. Iranian officials have always been stressing out that Irans nuclear program has peaceful objectives. Javad Zariff in his article Irans nuclear program is about energy, not weapons states: More than 18 months of intrusive inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency in Iran failed to produce a smoking gun. In fact, the report released in September by the IAEA confirmed the organizations original finding from November 2003 that "to date there is no evidence that the previously undeclared nuclear material and activities ... were related to a nuclear weapons program.


It appears that we deal here with nothing else but with another, well-orchestrated paranoia over weapons of mass destruction, just as it happened with Iraq. When we associate Nixons administration with Watergate scandal, Clinton with his Lewinski affair every time we mention Bush, we might as well talk of weapons of mass destruction with great irony. IAEA represents the interests of USA while there is Irans government on the other side. It appears that there are only two parties involved in this, yet there are also countries of EU that support U.S. and the most important player that tries to appear neutral Israel. There is no doubt for great many political observers that US government isnt quite as much concerned about own National security as it concerned about Israels well-being.


It lobbies Israels interests throughout the world and by doing this; it alienates its traditional allies. French president now openly talks of European countries actively opposing USA global dominance. Saudi-Arabia, although officially remaining the friend of America, goes as far as financing Al-Queda. Russia president Putin had just given orders for Russian nuclear missiles to start targeting U.S. cities again Therere certain groups of people in favor of USA aggressively pursuing its present Middle East policies. The most prominent of them is American Jewish Congress. It has an immense influence on American politicians. Controlling the majority of US medias, this group is able to impose its views on the rest of population. This was a reason for Bush being reelected again brainwashing can be very effective as long as lie is repeated many times over and over.


The whole Muslim world will support Iran, of course, when itll come to US introducing the concept of human rights to this region as well. It is hard to foresee from our present position, where such confrontation might lead. Iranian government is now being given time to sign recent resolution of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency that demand Irans cooperation with international nuclear inspectors. It has to guarantee an unrestricted access to its nuclear facilities, yet a noncompliance can always be found. It appears to me that it doesnt matter whether Irans nuclear program is peaceful or not USA simply wont allow Iran to pursue with it, as it might constitute threat to Israel. North Korea has been known to possess nuclear heads for years now, yet U.S. foreign departments reaction to this was rather slow and indecisive.


Russians are in possession of great quantities of chemical weapons, some of them were being used in Chechnya, but again American politicians dont seem to be very concerned about this. According to U.S. State Department: if Iran does not cooperate with the IAEA Governing Councils Sept. 12 resolution, the file on Irans nuclear activities would be taken before the U.N. Security Council. There is new information just being released that Iranians have agreed to American demands, yet they reserved the right to restrict access to some of the most sensitive research areas, as this would undermine Irans national security.
