Interdisciplinary Capstone GEN 480 University of Phoenix is one of the largest accredited private universities for adults providing a wide range of studying opportunities and facilities. That is why it was chosen as the best one for further studying. Feeling the necessity to upgrade job skills, acquire professional continuing education units in the particular field and exploring an area of new professional knowledge the major course was taken. Years of working experience provided me with different kinds of ethic problems. Among them are relationships between colleges and with the clients, the problems which called professional ethic and which are peculiar to any sphere of professional activity. But I felt a great desire and urgent need to perfect my communication skills to solve the problems I was faced quickly, avoiding misunderstanding and ambiguity.
As the programme of study was begun, I had been initially prepared through foundation courses that equipped everyone with the skills and knowledge necessary for successful interventions with clients. This holds particularly true as it relates to negotiating the ethical aspects of social work practice. One of the ethical conflicts I experienced was the cruel behaviour of parents towards their child. It was a family of a politician Mr. K. The parents tried to protect their beloved son from the influence of his friends who were drug-addicts.
Mr. K. and his wife established strict control for their sons life. If he did something wrong on their opinion they strictly punished him. They escorted him to the school and back. When their neighbours called the police it could do nothing but informed our service about the case.
When we tried to speak with the parent, they refused to do it saying that it was slander, they were very aggressive to us taking our intrusion in their private relations negatively. The dilemma was that should we continue our interference in their private affair or not. We had no power to do that but we had an authority to speak with them for the purpose of solving the conflict peacefully. Private life of the family is their own matter, they tried to protect the son from the drugs but the way they chose is not permissive according to the humans rights.
